Workshop notes

The tools

For more than a decade I've been developing a modular hand-tool system. Here's how the pieces work — and, plainly, which parts are still prototypes.

Status: prototype

01Part

DockLock™ coupling — interchangeable heads

Every head joins the handle through the same one-handed coupling. Push a head onto the handle and the collar locks it automatically; turn the collar to release it. One handle can carry many different heads.

02Part

Dynamic Adjust™ — set the head's angle

An indexed hinge sits between the handle and the head. Press the button on the handle and the head can pivot; let go and it locks at the nearest step. The head can meet a surface at a different angle — along a baseboard, under a cabinet toe-kick, or across a high shelf.

03Part

Segmented handles

Handles come apart into segments that join with the same coupling, so the same parts can make a short hand tool or a long-handled one.

Where things stand

These are prototypes. I'm still refining the parts and the materials, and they are not yet the equipment I bring to every job. When a tool is ready for regular use on jobs, this page will say so.

What I bring to your home today

Conventional, well-maintained cleaning equipment. If one of my own tools is ready for a task in your home, I'll mention it before I use it.

The cleaning itself comes first.
